ThePlay ("we", "our", "the app") is an IPTV player application for Samsung Smart TVs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.
ThePlay collects a minimal amount of data necessary to provide core functionality:
We use collected information solely to: provide and maintain the app's functionality; enable device pairing and remote playlist management; manage licenses and trial periods; prevent abuse and enforce rate limits; diagnose technical issues. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Configuration data is stored locally on your TV using localStorage. Server-side data (account information, device records, playlists) is stored in a secured database with encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
ThePlay is a player application only. It does not provide, host, or distribute any media content. Users are solely responsible for the content they access through their own playlists and subscriptions. We have no knowledge of or control over the content played through the app.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@theplay.dev. Unpairing your device removes all server-side device records. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your TV.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at privacy@theplay.dev.
